Note to those looking for community event/fundaraising entertainment: Due to the recession, we've been receiving many requests for shows, that after quite a bit of time spent in communication, turn out to be requests for a donation of free-of-charge flamenco entertainment. We are sorry that we are not able to perform for any event with a budget of less than $400 (within the city of Chicago) and $500 (suburbs that are contiguous to Chicago). Please read on for the types of shows and budgets that we are able to work within. Unfortunately, we are unable to make any exceptions.
Theatrical presenters, meeting planners, brides, and teachers -- please scroll down through the descriptions below to find the option that addresses your needs. Prices start at $400 for small private party entertainment (see the heading "You have just about no budget"), start at $500 for school assemblies, and start at $750 for weddings and smaller corporate events. These are our lowest budgets for events within the city of Chicago. Please continue reading for more detail on what we can offer to enhance your upcoming event!
After reading the rest of this page, please contact me via e-mail for more information. Usually, I do not have time to return phone calls, so e-mail is the only way to ensure that I can respond in a timely way.
We provide instrumental flamenco guitar only as part of a package which includes a dance show component. We are not booking instrumental guitarists without dance at this time.
Our smallest show, which works very well in small rooms for a cocktail party or seated audience of 20-100 persons, has a base estimate of $750 (depending on variables such as number of sets to be performed and distance to be traveled to the venue). Dancers are beautifully costumed, and the show includes lots of excitement and color, with castanets, fans, shawls, and a brief audience participation rumba (if you wish). Our only technical requirements are a 6' x 9' performance area, electrical outlets contiguous to the dance floor, and a private dressing room space.
For larger groups and larger rooms, you'll need a larger show for maximum impact with room-filling sound and enough motion, color and panache to make a real impression. Dancers are beautifully costumed, and the show includes lots of excitement and color, with castanets, fans, shawls, and a brief audience participation rumba (if you wish). Our only technical requirements are a 9' x 12' performance area, two electrical outlets, and a private dressing room space. Our base estimate for this show is $1200 (again, depending on number of dancers/musicians involved, length of show, and distance to be traveled).
Full-length theatrical performances include a first act of flamenco fusion, intermission, and a second act of cuadro flamenco. This is a superb 75-minute flamenco show perfect for college concert series, and other small-to-medium theatrical settings. The presentation includes multiple costume changes and professional lighting design and requires the assistance of your theatre's own technical and stage crew. Within the Chicago area, prices start at $2500 for two guitarists, a percussionist, and four dancers. For shows outside the Chicago area, and at less than 150 miles away, prices start at $3500. For theatres more than 150 miles from Chicago, please inquire for rates based on distance to be traveled and size of the flamenco show you'd like to present. It is sometimes possible to present a show using fewer dancers and musicians, at a lower price, but only in a very intimate theatrical setting. Again, please inquire and specify your budget -- we will see what we can do to work within it!
School assemblies The ideal multi-cultural program, since flamenco draws from European, East Indian, Arabic, North African, and Gypsy cultures. Prices start at $500 for a 45-minute program (within the immediate Chicago area). Please inquire for rates based on distance to be traveled and size of the flamenco show you'd like to present to your students. Experience an interactive flamenco show in which students learn about flamenco rhythms, music and dance. At an additional cost, schools can receive innovative pre-program class materials and activities as well as follow-up post-program materials and quizzes so teachers can present an entire unit on flamenco, encompassing language, music, and culture. (Background learning materials are geared toward grammar/middle/and high-school students -- not college-level.)
You have just about no budget? Our absolute minimum budget starts at $400, and this applies only for private parties (of fewer than 100 guests) within or very close to Chicago. Additional charges will apply to reflect travel to distant suburban locations. This low-budget option includes a single 20-minute performance by Rosetta and one or two Flamenco Chicago company apprentice dancers, to recorded music on CD or occasionally live guitar. The price is based on event location and distance to be traveled, and does not include dance floor and sound system. You must provide a suitable wood dance surface (of at least 6' x 8') on which the sounds of the dancers' heelwork can be heard. We recommend this option only for small private parties. We are not willing to present this type of program for weddings or corporate events.
Respectful note to brides: We sincerely welcome requests from brides who are clear that they would like flamenco entertainment at their weddings. We are happy to work closely with you to provide the best possible fit in presenting flamenco that helps your wedding to be memorable, dramatic, and fun. However, we are very sorry to say that it has become too expensive and time-consuming to send out promotional packages and engage in lengthy back-and-forth correspondence from brides who are not sure they want flamenco and are just window-shopping among dozens of options. We do welcome serious inquiries from brides who are familiar with flamenco dance (it's not salsa!) and are fairly certain that you want flamenco at your wedding.
